By bus: Piazza Gramsci is Siena’s bus hub. To Florence (1 ¼ hours, up to 30 services a day), San Gimignano (1 ¼ hours, 10 services a day-direct or change at Poggibonsi), Montalcino (1 ½ hours, 6 services a day), Poggibonsi (1 hour, up to 10 services a day), Montepulciano (1 ¾ hours), Colle di Val d’Elsa (30 minutes, services every hour). From any of these towns you can take another bus to Volterra.

By car or motorcycle: Cars are not allowed in the centre of town. Beware of it it as fines and cars being towed away are very common. At the Stadio Comunale or around the Fortezza Medicea or at Il Campo you will find parking. However, space is very hard to find.
By train: To and from Rome change trains at Chiusi. To and from Florence change trains at Empoli. Trains terminate at Siena’s Piazza F Rosselli.
By taxi: tel. 0577 49 222. When you phone you will be informed on the taxi name and number. There are taxi ranks in Siena railway station (off the post office), Piazza Matteotti, Piazza Indipendenza and Piazza Amendola. The two taxi agencies operating Siena and around are COTAS and TUSCANY BY TAXI. Night service, holidays, Sundays, luggage and journeys outside Siena implies extra charges.
